Health & Wellness

Proper grooming is essential to your pet’s health, well-being and good looks! A properly cared for coat will look good, as well as helping to avoid any skin issues. While grooming we will check for any moles, lumps or skin problems. We will also check the eyes, ears and anal sacs.

We are finding many dogs and cats are now developing food allergies. In South Florida they are also prone to seasonal and airborne allergies due to our humid climate and constantly blooming tropical plants. We will let you know if there is anything concerning that requires a trip to your vet.

It is best to keep on a regular schedule. If you bathe your pet between grooming visits you must brush and comb them before the bath. Bathe them using high quality shampoos and conditioners. They must be completely dry to avoid damp hair sitting on the skin, creating skin issues. For longer-coated dogs, drying will help to avoid matting, as well as brushing and combing after the bath. De-matting can be painful and cause major skin irritation and sores. It can also cause behavioral problems for future grooming as it is very uncomfortable. If you don’t have the time to maintain the coat it is best to keep your dog in a manageable trim.
